INTRODUCTION.
It is known that disease losses due to infection with major mushroom pathogens account for up to 30%
of potential yields. We have repeatedly confirmed these data in experimental crops artificially infected
with spores of dry rot, green mold, date palm, white rot and rust spot, relative to uninfected reference
crops. The share of losses increased with increasing concentrations of either spores or pathogen cells
reflecting seasonally increased exposure of the crop to infection, for example, from 104 colony-forming
units to 105 cfu per m2 of cover. Likewise, an increasing share of yield losses occurred in the second
and third waves compared to the first.
